"Patchwork" - An Abstract Painting

"Patchwork"     3.5" x 3.5"     Acrylic on Bristol Board

I've been wanting to create a really grungy painting for some time now, and I thought this 30 day challenge to create daily paintings, and really my new years resolution to begin daily painting for real this year, was the perfect opportunity for me to branch out and try it. I think I'll try it again pretty soon with more rust-like colors with accents of teal and sea-green. Sounds pretty good to me!  =)

  1. I love this because of how small it is and it's an abstract. I think it's cool.

    1. Thank you so much! I'm so loving abstracts right now at this time of my life - they really help get out all the emotions I've been going through this past year. So great!

  3. Your abstract is pretty. The few times I have tried an abstract I was not pleased with the results. You should do another similar one but much much larger... would be so cool!

    1. Thank you, I think I will! I've always wanted to do one for my husband's incredibly sparse office. He's a graphic designer and only has a lonely little poster on the wall stuck up with thumb tacks. Not quite my image of an artist's office... Haha, I so love that silly man!

Also, if you ever try doing one again, this particular style works best with slightly dried out paints. So someday when you're finished with a painting and don't know what to do with your leftover paint "scraps," you should totally give it another go! =)

  4. Nice colors, and although it is small you could easily paint a much larger version of this piece. Well done.

    1. Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to try this one again on a larger scale just to see how it turns out, but I'm really liking working on such a tiny scale. It's a ton of fun! =)
